THE HONDA GOLDWING
The Honda Goldwing has been described as a " two wheeled car" and "the ultimate touring machine". There can be no doubt that since it's unveiling in October 1974 this bike has attracted not only a great deal of attraction but has been the basis of many a discussion.
The first Wing the GL1000 was 999cc, water cooled and could manage 45-50 mpg. Various accessories such as fairings soon made their appearance and in 1980 the Wings engine was increased to 1085cc and the GL1100 came with fitted fairing, panniers and top box to complete the touring package

In 1984 Honda introduced the GL1200 which was a complete revamp, although the outward appearance did not appear vastly different. The engine was now 1182cc and the bike came with radio/cassette, air suspension and a built in air compressor
In 1988 the GL1500 6 cylinder machine was launched. With a 1520cc engine, a radio/cassette/intercom and cruise control the bike was also fitted with reverse gear. This is very useful on a bike weighing 876lbs

After many months of speculation Honda revealed, in 2000, the next stage in the GoldWing story.
The 1832cc, 6 cylinder machine is lighter than it's predecessor due to the use of aluminium.
Honda is so confident of it's efficiency that it's service intervals are 32,000 miles. With ABS & CD player as optional extras the bike retains its touring capabilities while looking to build a more sporty reputation
